With just over a month to go, the crowdfunding for LEGO’s BrickLink Designer Program Series 3 is about to launch. We’d like to give you an early introduction to the five sets and all their key details: Harbormaster’s Office, The Art of Chocolate, Forest Stronghold, Camping Adventure, and Lost City.
Last week, the finalists for LEGO BrickLink Series 5 were announced, while crowdfunding for Series 2 has ended, with over 30,000 pre-orders for the Brick Cross Train Station and Mushroom House. Now, as the crowdfunding for Series 3 approaches, which sets will be snapped up?
Crowdfunding Begins on October 8th
The crowdfunding for BrickLink Designer Program Series 3 will officially kick off on October 8th at 8 AM Pacific Time.
Each set must reach a minimum crowdfunding goal of 3,000 pre-orders during the presale period to enter production. In both the first and second series, all five finalist sets exceeded the 3,000-unit minimum. For particularly popular sets, it may be necessary to order quickly, as each model is limited to a production run of 30,000 units.
The successful sets from Series 3 are expected to be delivered in March 2025, with a limit of two sets per customer.
In the BrickLink Designer Program, fans can submit their models, and five finalists are selected through public voting. The submitted models must adhere to strict part color and stability requirements to ensure no major design adjustments are needed before production.

Comprehensive Comparison of the BrickLink Designer Program
Based on the officially announced prices for the Series 3 sets, we can compare them with the data from previous rounds. Although the average price in this round isn’t as low as the first round of the 2021 BrickLink Designer Program Invitational, it’s still lower than in Series 1. The price per piece has slightly decreased, but the overall average price is a bit higher than in Series 2.
In terms of piece count, using the average of 2,500 pieces per set as a benchmark, two models in this round meet that standard. Among the other three, the ‘Camping Adventure’ set contains only 669 pieces, which is well below the benchmark. However, its price of $54.99 may attract strong fan support. The other two larger sets in this round exceed the standard by about 1,000 pieces each, showcasing the unique designs that BrickLink is known for.

The art of chocolate is my favourite.
It reminds me a little of Harry Potter and hogmead and wouldn’t look out of place with other Harry Potter sets.

Thanks for the love! Totally agree—festive sets would be amazing for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Any specific themes or builds you’d like to see?
I am also thinking of the Greatest Christmas Movies sets! Perhaps Santa Clause, Grinch, Scrooge, Klaus, and Elf! For Elf, it could be his adventures around New York City!
That’s a great idea! A set featuring iconic characters like Santa, Grinch, or Scrooge would be amazing! An Elf set in NYC could capture some fun scenes too. What specific scenes would you love to see built?
So many scenes to choose such as the jail break scene with Santa, and the first mall visit involving Santa! Might be very interesting to do these scenes
That’s a great point! Both scenes have such unique charm. The mall visit especially captures the chaos and humor perfectly.

I love the art of Choco 🎃🎃🎃
Glad to hear you love Choco’s art! What aspects of it stand out to you the most? I’m curious if it’s the colors, style, or maybe the storytelling. Would love to hear your thoughts!
I like the Yellow goldish colours of the front Facade : actually It makes everything so Happy and Fairy taled style. Plus the opening up as a book It Is really beautiful.
When I look at It reminds me Willy Wanka and the cocholate factory… A world full of entertainment
Thank you for sharing! I totally agree – the yellow-gold colors and book-like opening really do give it that magical, fairytale vibe. It’s interesting you mentioned Willy Wonka, what other worlds or stories does it remind you of?
The Art of Chocolate is my favorite piece! Looks so cute and reminds me of Willy Wonka!
The Willy Wonka connection is spot on—The Art of Chocolate definitely has that whimsical vibe. What details stood out most to you?
The house with the upper level, the store display, the overall whimsical look!
The Lost City seems like a very interesting set to pair with the LOTR Rivendell set, with similar themes!
That’s a great point! Pairing The Lost City with Rivendell could create an epic display of ancient and mystical worlds. How do you envision blending the two themes together?
Perhaps Rivendell on one side, the Lost City in the middle, and the Eye of Sauron set on the other side! Love that set and I think an updated Saruman tower is needed!
Great idea! Combining Rivendell, the Lost City, and the Eye of Sauron would create an epic scene. An updated Saruman’s tower would be a fantastic addition too! What other iconic locations would you add?
Mordor with an exploding volcano, Fangorn Forest with the Ents, Mines of Moria, etc. So much iconic locations!
Cool stuff!
Thanks! Glad you liked it! What stood out to you the most?
Definitely the camping adventure
Harbormaster’s Office looks like a lot of fun with lots of details that I like a lot!
Glad to hear you’re excited about the Harbormaster’s Office! What details stood out to you the most? I’m curious to know which features others are drawn to—there’s so much to appreciate in this set!
the sheer amount of details on it, from the figurines, the aquatic life, the boats, the scene setup, and even lots of fun things going on under the house! So much to love about it!
I couldn’t agree more! The attention to detail really brings the scene to life. What did you think of the design under the house? I noticed some clever touches there—any favorites that stood out for you?
The range of aquatic life and the mini figs! Without those, the whole setup would be a bit plain. How about you? What stands out? Recent amazing sets typically features lots of fun accessories and mini figs along with interactive elements to add to the playability of the set!
Love the Art of Chocolate. Would be a really nice Christmas gift for my grandson.
Thanks for sharing! The Art of Chocolate does make a unique gift, especially for the holidays. What does your grandson enjoy most—creating or indulging in sweets?
He is definitely a creator. That’s what I love about your sets and Legos. He is always using his imagination and building something.
That sounds like a sweet idea! The Art of Chocolate definitely makes for a special Christmas gift. Does your grandson enjoy creating things?
Somehow the Forest Stronghold reminds me of Robin Hood! I can imagine having some brand new Disney figurines from the animated Robin Hood!
That’s such a great connection! The Forest Stronghold does have that Robin Hood vibe. Imagine adding those figurines to recreate some fun scenes! What’s your favorite part of the animated movie?
I am fine with the animated movie. I actually prefer the Kevin Coatner. And along that line, I think we should have a Waterworld play set haha
That’s an interesting point! While the animated movie has its charm, the Kevin Costner version does bring a different vibe. A Waterworld play set would be epic—imagine the adventures we could recreate!
For the Camping Adventure, I think more different camping houses and tents could be released to expand the set! I can also think of BBQ sets, forest adventure sets, etc to complement it
Thanks for sharing your ideas! Adding more camping houses and tents sounds like a great way to expand the theme. A BBQ set or forest adventure pack would definitely enhance the experience.
Exactly! And I was also thinking if we can also have different themes of iconic camping sites such as Yosemite!
That’s a fantastic idea! Incorporating themes from iconic camping sites like Yosemite could really bring the spirit of the outdoors into the project. What other sites or themes do you think would work well?
I would say Nature series with its famous routes and mountains. Imagine a Yosemite, Mount Rainier, Mount Rushmore, Grand Canyon with bricks!
For Christmas, it might be a fire place with Christmas tree family set. Halloween might be house trick or treating set. For Thanksgiving, it might be interesting to have a kitchen disaster scene with guests outside sitting on a table waiting for dinner LOL
Great ideas! I love the kitchen disaster scene—so relatable! What about a Thanksgiving parade set too? Or a haunted house with spooky lighting for Halloween?
Thanksgiving parade might be amazing. It could be iconic parades with iconic floats through different time periods. Each set can have wheels and be connected so that you can pull at one end for the entire block parade to move. And one of the sets could be a music box to play the parade music.
Great idea! Turning iconic samurai battles into LEGO sets would be both educational and fun. Imagine building those castles and battlefields. What other historical events do you think would make awesome sets?
I was wondering Romance of the Three Kingdoms! I think this IP has not been sufficiently explored and alot of the battle scenes could become amazing brick sets.
Another one which might be awesome is Journey to the West! With the popularity of Black Wukong, iconic brick sets for famous scenes and battles should be very well received
Love your idea! A parade with floats from different time periods would be amazing. The connected sets and music box add a great touch. Any thoughts on which iconic floats should be included?
Mickey Mouse, Snoopy, Kermit, Paddington, Kaikai and Kiki by Takashi Murakami, KAWS are definitely candidates to be included!
The forest stronghold could also have similar sets for different periods in time! I would like a samurai stronghold especially since Shogun TV series is so popular right now.
Great idea! A samurai stronghold would be amazing, especially with Shogun’s current popularity. It could be a fun way to explore different eras. What other historical periods would you like to see?
Actually the different samurai battles could be inspiration for Lego sets such as
Battle of Sekigahara, Battle of Baguashan, Siege of Odawara, etc. You could have different battle fields, castles, etc. to play with.
Great idea! Turning iconic samurai battles into LEGO sets would be both educational and fun. Imagine building those castles and battlefields. What other historical events do you think would make awesome sets?
the Lost City could also be tied into one of my favorite adventure movies: National Treasure! I can see sets for 1st and 2nd movie being made into brick sets.
That’s such a fun idea! National Treasure-themed sets would be amazing, especially with all the hidden clues and artifacts. Imagine building the underground treasure scene! Which scenes would you want to see in brick form?
Perhaps the scenes involving the bell tower of Independence Hall, the underground passage under Trinity Church, the Library of Congress, and Mount Rushmore.
Another adventure series I would love to see in brick form is Goonies! The second film is finally coming out and I want to see the various caves, tunnels and the ship in brick form!
Wow, I didn’t know there’s a Goonies sequel coming! Building those caves and the ship in bricks would be amazing. The bell tower and Mount Rushmore scenes would make epic sets too. What other ideas do you have?
Indiana Jones sets based on raiders of the lost ark, temple of doom, and last crusade would be great. Especially for last crusade, you could have brick sets for the three trials and the eventual room with the cups and the knight. Each scene would be its own set and the four sets can be linked together, and you can have a special case to store all of them!
Great Sets
Im saving up for that camping adventure set.
That’s awesome! That camping adventure set looks amazing. Any specific trips you’re planning once you get it? I’d love to hear your plans!
Aaaargh, I want all of them, maybe except Forest Stronghold… but I need the rest!
Totally get the excitement! Forest Stronghold isn’t for everyone, but it’s interesting how each set speaks to different tastes. What features caught your eye in the others?
TBH Lost City could play great with ancient Orient Expeition sets I have somewhere here…
I totally agree! Combining the Lost City with the Orient Expedition sets sounds like a brilliant idea. The ancient adventure vibe could really bring both worlds to life. What’s your favorite part of the Orient sets?
That art of chocolate one, is so detailed, but of course all of them are!
Thanks for pointing that out! The attention to detail in the chocolate art is truly amazing. Which piece stood out to you the most? I’d love to hear your thoughts on what makes these designs so special!
Love the art of chocolate, but they are all amazing!
Thank you! Chocolate truly is an art form. Which type of chocolate creations do you enjoy the most—classic bars, truffles, or something more unique?
I enjoy them all equally, can’t pick a favourite!
LEGO’s BrickLink Designer Program Series 3 is super exciting. I can’t decide whether I want Harbormaster’s Office, The Art of Chocolate, Forest Stronghold, Camping Adventure, or Lost City. I can see all of these prices being profitable!
