Black Myth: Wukong has been out for a while now! Have you had a chance to play it? Although I haven’t had the opportunity to try it myself, I discovered that LEGO released the LEGO The Heavenly Realms 80039 set back in 2022. I highly recommend this set to LEGO fans to pair with the game for an enhanced experience—I’m sure it will bring an unprecedented level of enjoyment!
Minifigures
Let me start by showing you a few of the minifigures from the LEGO Monkie Kid The Heavenly Realms 80039 set. The Monkie Kid minifigure is truly something I adore!
There are a total of eight minifigures and one dog. Except for Qi Xiaotian, who appears as a tourist, the rest are exclusive minifigures, and their prices on the secondary market aren’t cheap. But then again, that’s pretty standard for LEGO.
Size
When fully assembled, the set measures 53 by 40 cm in length and width, and 37 cm in height. It’s quite large and makes for an excellent display piece.
Characters
There are four different scenes in total, each featuring two minifigures. Let’s start with the main character from Black Myth: Wukong (there are three versions of him included in the set).
From left to right:
Bimawen (Stable Attendant)
This minifigure’s expression shows him sneaking a bite of a heavenly peach. He’s wearing an official robe with a horse emblem on the front, and his legs are dressed in fabric that extends the robe. The red fabric is adorned with golden cloud patterns, making it really stand out.
Sun Xingzhe (Pilgrim Sun)
This version of the character has a similar design to others seen in different sets. He’s depicted as having just emerged from the alchemy furnace, with his head showing the iconic “Fiery Golden Eyes,” highlighted by gold-printed eyes and a face covered in soot. His double-sided face complements Bimawen’s expression, but it’s curious that he’s still wearing his clothes and boots after coming out of the furnace.
Great Sage Equal to Heaven
What sets this minifigure apart is the incredibly detailed armor, complete with golden shoulder pads. The cape also features intricate printing on the back. He’s wielding the Ruyi Jingu Bang (Golden-Hooped Staff) in his right hand and holding a banner that reads “Great Sage Equal to Heaven” on his left (as seen in the first image). The overall look is quite imposing. If there were arm printing as well, it would be the perfect setup.
Erlang Shen
His hairpiece is a brand-new dual-molded part, and his double-sided face features two expressions—one with his third eye open and the other with it closed. His armor is primarily black, yellow, and purple, with a dog emblem on the front and a paw print on the back—truly befitting the god who loves dogs. He also comes with a black shoulder pad and cape, though I must say the Great Sage Equal to Heaven’s design is a bit more impressive. His trident weapon is also well-replicated.
Xiaotianquan (Howling Celestial Dog)
This black dog has gold detailing on its head and even includes a depiction of its third eye.
Nezha
In The Heavenly Realms set, Nezha is depicted as a child, so he comes with the non-movable short legs. In contrast, the version in the Nezha’s Fire Ring Mech 80034 set is an adult. The armor printing on his torso seems to be the same in both versions, but the Heavenly Realms version lacks leg printing. The purple shoulder armor paired with the Hun Tian Ling (Red Armillary Sash) looks quite nice, and the fire-tipped spear is well-recreated using a flag piece.
Taishang Laojun
The headpiece is the same as Erlang Shen’s but in white. With white hair, a white beard, and double-layered golden shoulder armor, he holds a fly-whisk, exuding an aura of profound wisdom and unmatched power. The back of his robe features a printed Taiji (Yin-Yang) symbol.
Fairy of the Peach Garden
She is primarily dressed in purple, with detailed printing. The skirt is made from purple parts, and her hairstyle is quite elaborate, featuring braids. At first glance, her facial expression has a bit of a resemblance to Long Xiaojiao.
Qi Xiaotian
As for Qi Xiaotian, who’s just here for a photo op, he comes with a laughing expression and a selfie stick. The phone has detailed printing on the screen, and he’s wearing a typical backpack. Although he’s a recurring character in nearly every LEGO Monkie Kid set, his prints are always fun and visually appealing.

Wukong Series from JMBricklayer
Unfortunately, the LEGO The Heavenly Realms 80039 set is now a retired product and can no longer be purchased from the LEGO website.
However, the good news is that JMBricklayer offers Wukong-themed mecha sets as well—Mecha-Monkey King 70150 and The Fake Monkey King 70151.
These two mecha sets—True/Fake Wukong—have such similar design elements that it’s hard to tell them apart. In the original story, it was the Buddha who revealed the truth to the readers. Can you figure it out?
