LEGO bricks: Once you’ve played with them, you’ll find countless reasons to love them. When I bought my first set, it was all about “unwinding and relieving stress.”
However, if you run into the situations below, you might find yourself getting really frustrated—these are experiences every LEGO enthusiast is likely familiar with. Read on and see how many of these moments hit home!
Can’t Find the Piece
When you first start building with LEGO, you’re overwhelmed by the countless pieces of all shapes and sizes. As you’re putting things together, you can’t find the piece shown on the instructions and feel like digging through the entire set. In the end, you realize the piece was right there next to you all along…
The Sticker Was Crooked
When you’re carefully lining up a sticker with a piece, the more cautious you are, the more nervous you get. The more nervous you are, the shakier your hands become, and the shakier your hands get, the more mistakes you make… snap! The sticker ends up crooked. And when you’re trying to peel it off and fix it, you end up tearing it…
Piece Gets Damaged
When you discover a piece is damaged, either by accident or through your own clumsiness, and it messes up the next step of the build, making it impossible to complete the whole model…
Can’t Remove the Piece
When you realize you’ve placed a piece incorrectly, but it’s in such a tricky spot that no amount of twisting, prying, or lifting will work, you have no choice but to resort to using your teeth.
Made a Mistake Halfway Through the Build
When you realize you’re stuck on a crucial step, the assembly is wrong, or something doesn’t fit, and you realize you have to take apart what you’ve built just to fix it, all you can do is take a deep breath and quietly undo hours of work…
The LEGO Bags Spilled
As you’re building, you accidentally spill a bag of pieces all over the place or mix up the sorted parts. All you can do is groan while you clean up, and once you’re done, you’re still worried that you might have missed something or that pieces have rolled into corners… Finally, when you’re ready to continue, if you can’t find a piece, you immediately start a full-on search of the floor!
Bought a Fake LEGO
There are countless LEGO knockoffs out there, especially for newcomers. If you’re not careful, unscrupulous sellers can easily deceive you. When you get it home, take a look at the packaging, feel the pieces, and suddenly, you’ll get that sinking feeling in your stomach…
Realize a Piece is Missing
When you’re deep into the build and realize you can’t find a crucial piece, or when you get to the very end and can’t find the last one, you start to panic and wonder—did the manufacturer forget to include it? Did the seller forget to ship it? Did the delivery lose it? Did you drop it earlier? Or…?
You must be really rich to be buying LEGO!?
When you hear this, it feels like you’ve been hit with a magic spell. LEGO, especially the larger sets, can be pretty pricey. As a hobby, it’s often met with the assumption that you’re loaded. But the truth is, many LEGO enthusiasts save every penny, cutting back on other things just to afford their LEGO sets, and then stay up late, building away with a mix of tears and determination (not really).
Accidentally dropped and broke it after it was built
After you’ve carefully finished building your LEGO set and placed it on the table or display shelf, one little slip and—crash—it falls. Suddenly, your heart stops… Especially when a neighbor’s rambunctious kid or your own furry friend comes through, and after spending the whole day putting it together, you come home to find a sea of broken pieces. You’d be forgiven for wondering if your blood pressure just went through the roof…
What are the moments that make you break into a cold sweat?

Both my boys played/built with Legos when they were younger. They always had me apply the stickers, I didn’t mind putting them on but what I did mind was that some were so small to handle.
I totally get that! Those tiny stickers can be a real challenge. Did you or your kids have a favorite Lego set? I’d love to hear more about which ones sparked their creativity!
Great products
Leaving your build low enough so the dog can get at it – and chew it to pieces, and eat a few too 🙁
Oh no, that must’ve been frustrating! Did the pieces survive the dog’s curiosity? Any tips on keeping builds safe from pets? Sounds like quite the adventure!
I hate when a piece gets damaged.
Same here! It’s the worst when a favorite piece gets scuffed or bent. Do you try to replace damaged pieces or find creative ways to work around it?
It’s terrible when a building made up of many bricks accidentally falls
Totally agree—watching all that hard work crumble is heartbreaking! Do you rebuild it right away or take a break before tackling it again? It’s always a test of patience!
I built a tree house went to move it, it collapsed my fiance and his dad jokes he yells “timber” it was not funny then a little funny now.
I didn’t know that JMBricklayer bricks were compatible with lego
Yes and with funwhole bricks it’s great to be able to connect the towns together ☺️
As I wrote in the forum and It happened also jrn… It Is not tò find a Piece 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ugh, losing a piece is so frustrating, especially mid-build! Do you have any tricks for tracking down missing pieces, or is it always a treasure hunt?
My sons have learned a lot of patience from lego
That’s amazing! Lego really does teach patience and problem-solving. Have you noticed any other skills they’ve picked up along the way? It’s such a fun way to learn!
Love these bricks
Same here! There’s just something so satisfying about building with them. Do you have a favorite set or project you’ve worked on?
Crooked stickers are number 1… I wish all sets came with printed pieces.
Crooked stickers can be so frustrating! Printed pieces would be a game-changer. Do you have any tricks for perfect sticker placement, or do you just go with the flow?
Theflat side of a lego puller helps placing the stickers I would like to sat ive placed a few crooked still but it helps a lot. However I have also learned that if it’s a circle piece place it then put on the sticker one of my sets now has a permanent crooked part cause i don’t want to rip the sticker.
Great tip about the puller for stickers! Crooked stickers happen to the best of us. How do you handle tricky placements? Any pro sticker hacks to share?
If you make a mistake in the middle of construction but only realize it towards the end 😭
Oh no, that’s the worst! Do you go back and fix it, or find a creative way to work around it? Those moments definitely test your patience and problem-solving skills!
Or when you have finished it and want to show it to someone and it falls down 😬
I did that moving a tree house build set I almost cried but i took a couple day and rebuilt it where I wanted it placed this time
That’s so heartbreaking! All that effort gone in a second. Do you laugh it off or jump straight into rebuilding? Those moments can turn into funny stories later!
An article and assessment of whether Lego will survive the great competition from China in the future, or whether others will take over this market?
That’s a great point to discuss! Lego’s quality and creativity are unmatched, but competition is fierce. Do you think their brand loyalty and innovation will keep them ahead?
Missing pieces, especially if a new builder, can be the worst.
Last kit I built was missing a number of pieces and they were structural, so it paused my build.
Missing pieces are so frustrating, especially when they’re key parts! Did you reach out to the company for replacements, or find creative workarounds to keep building?
I usually sort first so I will know if I am missing anything and test the lights if included then I sort so many steps to stay focused if i start having to rebuild something I take break
Sorting first is such a smart move! Testing lights too—great idea. Breaks definitely help when things go off track. Do you have a favorite method to stay organized during big builds?
I use a baking pan to hold apare parts and depending on the size of the build place steps in cups then stack them use top cup to bottom in order to stay organized it’s funny when you have alot of cups and start singing (99 bottle of beer) 99 more cups on the table take one down build it , then 98
Love this creative organizing tip—makes building fun and efficient! What other quirky tricks do you use while working on projects?
#1 into a cold sweat is accidentally dropping or nocking off a set into pieces lol.
Totally feel that panic moment! Do you have a go-to recovery trick for when that happens? I’d love to hear how others handle those ‘uh-oh’ moments—let’s share tips!
Just seeing this! No tricks really, I’ll just go to sad mode, mad at myself for knoockig it off. I’ll pick it all up and put away till I get back to rebuilding, taking some time to get back to rebuild lol.
My frustration is with the cost of Lego! It is so expensive. That’s why I buy from you guys. Quality at a reduced price.
Totally get the cost struggle—Lego can be pricey! What’s your favorite set you’ve snagged at a great deal?
So frustrating when u realize u made a mistake but are so far along!
Ugh, that feeling is the worst! Do you backtrack to fix it or find a creative way to make it work?
Number #1 to break into a cold sweat is knocking it off the display into pieces, opps :/
My #1 break into sweat is when I knock it off the display all into pieces :/
The rich cartoon print is funny lol. If people weren’t so quick to judge or kept thoughts to themselves, the world would be a beautiful place 🙂
I agree, humor like that can lighten the mood! It’s true, if more people embraced understanding and kindness instead of rushing to judge, we’d all be better off. What do you think?
I totally agree & I could go on about this topic lol. Will spare you 🙂 On that note though I do wish to meet a rich or a none rich awesome human with a ton of legos so I can be invited over to build the legos with lol.
Building legos with a fun, creative soul sounds like a dream. What’s your ideal lego project? A city, spaceship, or something wild? Let’s hear those creative ideas!
If I had a ton of it I’d like to build on a lego village, like those people that buy building on their Chrismas village. I think it’s so neat. I’d eventually put light fixtures through/around the building too. And they’d all be protected by the marvel figurines stand taller all around it lol!
My kids have a bad habit of walking away from a build with one piece in their hands and then they forget where they set it down.
That’s a common challenge! Maybe creating a “build station” with a designated spot to keep pieces could help. Or try using small containers to organize parts as they go. Any tips that work for you?
Patients goes a long way when legos are involved 🙂
I love that point! It’s amazing how something as simple as Legos can spark creativity and patience. What other activities have you found to help with patience and focus?
Dancing & Yoga, both involves lots of focus & patients, relying on listening to an instructor step by step. Eventually and potentially leads to the success to lead yourself.
I feel like when they spill on the floor they go in every direction and under everything
Haha, I totally get that! It’s like they have a mind of their own. Have you found any tricks to keep them contained, like using trays or bins? Would love to hear any tips!
Anyone see any good black Friday deals on Lego
when i lose lego pieces of a set I always found pieces of other sets I lost before
